Jordan says 3 missiles hit its territory in last 24 hours
Army says air defenses shot down 2 missiles while third landed in eastern Jordan
ISTANBUL
Jordan said Friday that three missiles struck its territory over the past 24 hours amid ongoing regional escalation linked to the conflict involving Iran, the US and Israel.
Air defense forces intercepted two of the missiles, while a third landed in eastern Jordan, the state-run Petra news agency reported, citing the army.
Relevant teams also responded to four incidents during the same period involving falling debris and projectiles, Petra reported, citing a spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate.
No injuries were reported, though some material damage was recorded, the spokesperson said.
Regional escalation has continued since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, which has so far killed more than 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has retaliated with waves of drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global markets and aviation.
