Israel kills 9 Palestinians in Gaza amid ceasefire violations
Drone, airstrikes hit displacement tents, shelter school across southern, central, northern Gaza, according to medical, emergency officials
GAZA CITY, Palestine / ISTANBUL
Nine Palestinians, including two young siblings, were killed and several injured Thursday when Israeli strikes hit displacement tents and a shelter school in the southern, central and northern Gaza Strip.
The Gaza Civil Defense and Emergency Directorate said the strike targeted a tent in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, killing three.
A medical source at the Nasser Hospital later told Anadolu that the bodies of a woman and two children, Layan Abu Shaqra and brothers Abdullah and Omar al-Abadlah, ages 5 and 7, respectively, were received following the attack.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Gaza subsequently said the death toll from the strike rose to four.
Al-Mawasi has been designated by Israel as a “safe zone,” yet it has continued to come under attack.
In northern Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp, a young Palestinian man was killed, and eight, including children, were wounded in a drone strike on a school sheltering displaced families, said Gaza’s Medical Services Directorate.
The directorate also reported three Palestinians wounded when an Israeli drone targeted the Khalifa School, another displacement shelter in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza.
A Palestinian was killed and several were wounded Thursday when an Israeli drone hit a displacement tent in the al-Attar area of al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, medical sources told Anadolu.
Another Palestinian was killed in a separate drone strike on a displacement tent northwest of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, said sources.
Earlier Thursday, a Palestinian girl was killed by Israeli fire from military vehicles in the Jabalia camp, and a young man was killed when an Israeli drone dropped a munition in the Sheikh Nasser area east of Khan Younis, according to medical sources and witnesses.
Another man was wounded by Israeli gunfire in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, said witnesses.
The Israeli army has killed more than 71,400 people, mostly women and children, and injured over 171,000 in a brutal offensive since October 2023 that has left the enclave in ruins.
Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli army has continued attacks, killing 424 Palestinians and wounding 1,189, according to the Health Ministry.
