The Israeli army has shared a document with the mayors of Israel’s northern cities detailing the scenarios of an “all-out war” with Lebanon’s Hezbollah group, an Israeli news portal said Sunday.

“The document envisages a potential three-day power outage in some cities; breakdowns in water supply that could last days; a disconnection of landlines for up to eight hours and cellphone communications for up to 24 hours; and brief local disruptions to radio and internet,” The Times of Israel reported.

According to the media outlet, the Israeli security establishment assesses that Israel could face “an unprecedented attack with hundreds of rockets carrying warheads ranging from payloads of 50 kilograms to 10 times that.”

The army expected Hezbollah to “attack targets far to the south of Haifa, including Tel Aviv, possibly forcing the evacuation of large numbers of people to Jerusalem and to the south.”

Tensions have escalated between Hezbollah and Israel since Tel Aviv assassinated the group’s senior military commander, Fuad Shukr, in an airstrike on a southern suburb of Beirut on July 30.

Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh was also assassinated in the Iranian capital Tehran the following day in an attack blamed on Israel, although Tel Aviv has not confirmed or denied its responsibility.

Hamas and Iran have vowed to retaliate for Haniyeh's assassination, while Hezbollah has pledged to respond to Shukr's killing.

Fears have grown over a full-blown war between Israel and Hezbollah amid a months-long exchange of cross-border fire.

The escalation comes against the backdrop of an Israeli onslaught on Gaza which has killed nearly 39,600 people since last October following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas.
