The Israeli army escalated assaults against Palestinians on Wednesday, injuring four people and detaining 28 others in a military raid in the West Bank and bombing multiple areas in the Gaza Strip despite a ceasefire agreement, medics and witnesses said.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said four people were injured after being beaten by Israeli soldiers during a raid in the town of Jaba, south of Jenin in the northern West Bank.

Israeli troops detained 28 residents during the raid and searched dozens of homes, including on-site questioning inside one house, witnesses said.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army shelled several locations inside the Gaza Strip, in violation of the ceasefire that has been in place since Oct. 10.

Israeli artillery fire hit the vicinity of the al-Fakhoura School, which shelters displaced Palestinians west of the Jabalia refugee camp, in areas from which Israeli troops had previously withdrawn in northern Gaza under the ceasefire, witnesses said.

The Israeli army also launched an airstrike in areas it continues to occupy east of Jabalia, accompanied by heavy gunfire from military vehicles, according to witnesses.

In Gaza City, Israeli shelling targeted the al-Tuffah neighborhood east of the city, while additional artillery fire struck areas in central Gaza, along with an airstrike east of the al-Maghazi refugee camp.

In southern Gaza, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on Rafah in areas still under Israeli control, while helicopter gunfire also targeted the area, witnesses said.

No information was yet available about casualties.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 414 people have been killed and 1,145 others injured in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire.

Since October 2023, the Israeli army has killed more than 71,000 people and injured over 171,000 others in a brutal assault that has left the enclave in ruins. The United Nations has estimated reconstruction costs at roughly $70 billion.
