Israel claims killing commander of Iranian Quds Force’s ‘Imam Hussein Division’

ISTANBUL

Israel said Thursday that it killed a commander from an Iranian unit known as the “Imam Hussein Division,” which it says operates under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Telegram that the Israeli Air Force “struck and eliminated Ali Muslim Tabaja, a commander of the Iranian Imam Hussein Division.”

The Israeli military also claimed that “additional senior commanders were eliminated” in the strike.

The IDF described the Imam Hussein Division as a military force used by the Quds Force to strengthen Iran’s regional network and carry out operations against Israeli forces and civilians.

It also alleged that the unit provides Hezbollah with significant military capabilities.

Regional escalation has flared up since Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people and injuring over 10,000 others, according to Iranian authorities.

Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
