Debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell Sunday in the Al Shawamekh area in the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi, injuring an Indian national, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said.

Authorities responded to the incident following the successful interception by air defense systems, the office said.

The UAE’s Defense Ministry said earlier that its air defenses were actively responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran, adding that explosions heard across the country were the result of interceptions.

The UAE has faced repeated Iranian strikes since US-Israeli attacks on Iran began on Feb. 28. The country has previously reported multiple interceptions.

The US-Israeli strikes against Iran have reportedly killed at least 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
