Fire breaks out after Iranian missile hits factory in southern Israel: Report
Some other buildings also damaged in missile attack targeting central Israel, Israeli media reports
JERUSALEM
A fire broke out after an Iranian missile hit at a factory in an industrial area in Negev, southern Israel, according to Israel’s Channel 12.
The Israeli army said that air defense systems were activated to intercept missiles identified as having been launched from Iran.
According to Channel 12, sirens were sounded in the cities of Beersheba and Arad, as well as in the Negev, due to Iran’s first missile attack targeting southern Israel.
Images shared on social media showed a fire in the factory in the industrial area, with smoke rising from the area.
During Iran’s second strike targeting central Israel, sirens sounded across a wide area, including the Gush Dan, known as "Greater Tel Aviv."
The Yedioth Ahronot newspaper reported that a fire broke out in an apartment building in the Rosh HaAyin area near Tel Aviv due to the missile attack.
In Petah Tikva, a building was reported damaged, while several streets in Tel Aviv also sustained damage.
In a statement, Israel’s emergency service Magen David Adom said its teams were dispatched to areas affected in Tel Aviv and Bnei Brak.
Israel’s state broadcaster KAN reported that missile debris and shrapnel fell at 17 different sites across seven cities in central Israel following Iran’s second retaliatory strike.
