Extraordinary Arab League meeting opens in Egypt to discuss renewed Israeli assault on Gaza
Extraordinary meeting held upon Palestinian request

ISTANBUL
An extraordinary Arab meeting opened at the Arab League in Egypt on Wednesday to discuss a renewed Israeli military assault on the Gaza Strip.
The meeting is held upon a Palestinian request at the level of permanent delegates to the pan-Arab body, according to an Anadolu reporter.
"We condemn the resumption of the Israeli aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing, and disregard for international law, humanity, and ceasefire initiatives and mediation," Palestinian delegate Muhannad Al-Aklouk told the meeting.
He said Israel continues to wreak havoc in the occupied West Bank as part of its efforts to annex around 60-80% of the territory.
Israel "is not threatening Arab national security, but assaulting it,” he added.
The Palestinian envoy called on Arab countries to impose sanctions on Israel, pursue international prosecution, enforce an economic boycott, ban its flights over Arab airspace, and seek to suspend its memberships in international organizations.
At least 436 people were killed and over 670 others injured in renewed Israeli airstrikes in Gaza since Tuesday, breaking a ceasefire agreement that took hold in January.
Nearly 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 112,000 others injured in a brutal Israeli military campaign in Gaza since October 2023.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
