Israeli army kills 2 Palestinians, claiming stone-throwers were 'terrorists'
Violence by Israeli forces and illegal settlers in West Bank has increased since October 2023
ISTANBUL
The Israeli army killed two Palestinians, claiming snipers from Unit 636 opened fire on "terrorists" who threw stones at Israeli vehicles on a main road near the town of Sinjil in the occupied West Bank.
The snipers "opened fire on the terrorists, neutralizing two of them," Ella Waweya, Israeli army's spokesperson, said on US social media company X's platform early Tuesday.
Use of blatant force by Israeli security personnel, as well as attacks by illegal settlers, often under state protection, on Palestinian towns, villages and communities in the West Bank have increased since the Gaza war, which continued for over two years starting in October 2023.
The ensuing violence has killed at least 1,127 Palestinians, injured 11,700 others and led to 22,000 arrests, according to official Palestinian figures.
