Children, pregnant woman among 53 killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza

At least 53 Palestinians, including children and a pregnant woman, were killed in Israeli airstrikes and shelling across the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to local media and medical sources.
In the latest attack, five Palestinians were killed and 58 others injured, including several critically, in an Israeli strike targeting Palestinians waiting for aid trucks near the Zikim area, northwest of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.
A Palestinian was also killed and more than 10 others were wounded in an Israeli strike that hit a tent sheltering displaced people in Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
In the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, eight Palestinians were killed and others injured in an Israeli strike.
An Israeli drone killed one Palestinian in a strike in the central town of Al-Zawaida.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA said that seven people, including children, a pregnant woman, and her unborn child, were killed and several others injured in an overnight Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City.
Israeli forces also targeted an ambulance near Hamad Rehabilitation Hospital in northwestern Gaza City, injuring members of the medical team, Wafa said, citing medical sources.
One girl was killed and 11 others – mostly children – were wounded when Israeli forces hit a tent sheltering displaced families at the public park in Al-Shati refugee camp, northwest Gaza City, according to medical sources. All casualties were taken to Al-Shifa Hospital.
Six more people were killed, and several others injured in Israeli strikes that targeted the Al-Tuffah, Al-Daraj and Zeitoun neighborhoods of Gaza City, medical sources told Anadolu.
The bodies of 12 people were retrieved in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza after Israeli forces and vehicles withdrew from the area, medics said.
They added that another Palestinian succumbed to his injuries that were sustained in a previous Israeli drone strike in the same city.
Israeli fighter jets shelled a group of civilians in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, leaving one civilian dead, medics at al-Awda Hospital said.
The hospital said the bodies of four civilians killed by Israeli fire near aid distribution sites in Wadi Gaza in central Gaza were transferred to the facility.
In southern Gaza, four people were killed and others injured in an Israeli strike on the town of Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis, a medical source told Anadolu.
Israeli army forces also shelled Palestinians seeking humanitarian aid near an aid distribution site in the southern city of Rafah, killing two Palestinians and injuring 40 others.
Israel has killed more than 59,200 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, collapsed the health system, and led to severe food shortages.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
