GAZA CITY, Palestine / ISTANBUL

At least 56 people have been killed and several others injured in Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip since early Thursday, medical sources told Anadolu.

Israeli artillery shelled civilians waiting for aid delivery near the Zikim area, northern Gaza Strip, killing nine people and injuring dozens.

Four people, including a woman, were killed by an Israeli drone strike on a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza City.

Israeli strikes also killed three people in Deir al-Balah and another three in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

Separately, Israeli jets struck homes in the Bureij refugee camp, leaving two people dead and injuring others.

Two people also lost their lives after the Israeli army targeted a tent in western Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.

In Khan Younis, 14 people were killed and scores wounded as Israeli forces opened fire on civilians gathered near an aid distribution point.

In Gaza City, three people were killed in an airstrike on a vehicle in the eastern al-Tuffah neighborhood. Two others were killed in a separate attack on a civilian gathering.

Further north, four Palestinians were killed in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood when Israeli forces directly targeted a civilian crowd.

In central and southern Gaza, nine people were killed in Israeli airstrikes that struck several homes in the town of Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis.

In a separate incident near the aid distribution center in the al-Shakoush area of western Rafah, Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian woman as she approached the area to collect humanitarian aid.

Israel has killed more than 59,500 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, collapsed the health system, and led to severe food shortages.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
