Settler attacks target multiple areas in West Bank
ISTANBUL
Seven Palestinians were injured and four vehicles burned in a series of attacks carried out by illegal Israeli settlers across the occupied West Bank, medics and local media reported.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said in a statement that its crews treated three people who were beaten by illegal settlers in the village of Jalud near Nablus in the northern West Bank.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that a group of illegal settlers stormed the village, assaulted residents and set fire to the village council building.
The attackers also burned four vehicles, three of which were completely destroyed, the agency added.
In the northern town of Bruqin, three Palestinians sustained bruises after their vehicles were attacked with stones by illegal settlers, Wafa said.
A Palestinian was also beaten and injured by illegal settlers, who attempted to set fire to his home in the town of Silat ad-Dhahr, southwest of Jenin in the northern West Bank, local sources said.
Illegal settlers also burned several Palestinian homes and vehicles in an attack in the village of Fandaqumiya, south of Jenin, Wafa said.
According to the outlet, a large number of settlers attacked the village, setting fire to homes and vehicles, and attacking other homes and smashing their windows, as residents attempted to confront them.
In Qalqilya, illegal settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles with stones near the settlement of Qadumim. No injuries or damage were reported.
In the Jordan Valley, illegal settlers attacked Palestinians in the Ein al-Hilweh community and sprayed residents with pepper spray.
Several settler attacks were also reported in multiple areas across the West Bank, including the closure of a road connecting Ramallah to Nablus.
In February, illegal settlers carried out 511 attacks across the West Bank, killing seven Palestinians by gunfire, according to official Palestinian figures.
Since the start of the Gaza war on Oct. 8, 2023, attacks by Israeli forces and illegal settlers in the West Bank have killed 1,133 Palestinians, injured about 11,700 others and led to the arrest of roughly 22,000 people.
In a landmark opinion in July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
