RAMALLAH, Palestine / ISTANBUL

Four Palestinians were injured Friday in attacks by Israeli army forces and illegal settlers, and 24 others were arrested in military raids across the occupied West Bank, medics and local sources said.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its crews in Ramallah treated a young man who was shot in the thigh with live fire by Israeli soldiers in the town of al-Ram, north of Jerusalem. He was taken to a hospital for medical attention, the society said.

In Nablus in the northern West Bank, the organization said three Palestinians were injured during an attack by illegal settlers in the town of Talfit. One was shot and two were beaten, it said. The person who was shot was hospitalized, while the other two were treated at the scene.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces arrested 24 Palestinians during raids in several areas of the West Bank, according to local sources.

Seven young men, including two brothers and their father, were detained in the Dhnaba suburb of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank, local sources told Anadolu.

In the town of Jaba, south of Jenin, Israeli forces arrested eight Palestinians after entering the town and searching their homes, the sources said.

Israeli forces also detained five people in Qarawat Bani Hassan, west of Salfit in the northern West Bank, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

In the southern West Bank, four Palestinians were arrested in Hebron after troops searched their homes, Wafa reported.

The Israeli military does not typically disclose the reasons for arrests, but they often occur as part of what Israeli authorities describe as security operations targeting wanted individuals.

More than 9,300 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli prisons, including 66 women and 350 children, according to official Palestinian figures.

Israel has intensified operations in the West Bank since the war in Gaza began on Oct. 8, 2023, including raids, arrests, killings, displacement and settlement expansion, in steps toward annexing the territory.

Violence in the West Bank has killed at least 1,112 Palestinians and wounded about 11,500 others, with roughly 22,000 arrests recorded during the same period.
