Four Iranian diplomats were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Lebanese capital Beirut, Iran's ambassador to the UN said on Tuesday.

Amir Saeid Iravani said in an urgent letter to the UN secretary-general and the presidents of the UN Security Council and the General Assembly that the diplomats were killed in the attack that targeted the Ramada Hotel Beirut on March 8, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

The letter described the incident as “a deliberate terrorist attack” by Israel that resulted in the deaths of the four diplomats.

On Sunday, the Lebanese Health Ministry said that four people were killed and 10 others injured in an Israeli strike that targeted an apartment at the Ramada Hotel in central Beirut.
