23 injured Israeli soldiers hospitalized after fighting in Lebanon, says medical center
Statement says more than 200 people treated since start of escalation
ISTANBUL
Rambam Hospital in Haifa said Tuesday it has received 23 wounded soldiers from combat zones in the north since March 2, in addition to treating more than 200 people.
In a statement, the hospital said it had earlier received a soldier injured in fighting in southern Lebanon, who was transferred to the emergency department for treatment.
The total number of wounded soldiers received since the beginning of the escalation reached 23, while more than 200 people have been treated overall, according to the statement.
The developments come amid ongoing clashes in southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah says in repeated statements that it is confronting Israeli army incursions and inflicting casualties on advancing forces.
Israel, meanwhile, maintains tight restrictions on information regarding casualties resulting from missile and drone attacks, as well as ground fighting in southern Lebanon.
Tensions have intensified since March 2, when Israel expanded its military operations in Lebanon, launching airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs and areas in the south and east, before beginning a limited ground incursion in the south on March 3.
Hezbollah said on March 2 that it had targeted a military site in northern Israel, describing the attack as a response to what it called ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanon despite a ceasefire in place since November 2024.
