Twenty people were killed and 57 injured Friday in Israeli airstrikes in several areas of Lebanon, bringing the death toll from attacks since March 2 to 1,021, according ot the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The ministry said in its daily report by the Emergency Operations Center that the number of wounded has reached 2,641 since the start of Israeli attacks.

It said the death toll has hit 1,021, including 118 children, while the number of wounded includes 370 children.

The ministry said 40 health workers were killed and 119 injured, noting that several hospitals, medical centers and ambulances were also targeted during the attacks.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Risk Management Unit of the Prime Minister’s Office said 134,616 displaced people have been registered in 64 shelters across the country.

The shelters are currently hosting 33,949 families, according to the report.

Authorities also recorded nearly 3,000 hostile incidents since the beginning of Israeli attacks on Lebanon earlier this month.

Israel’s Channel 12 reported Wednesday that Tel Aviv intends to occupy the first line of villages in southern Lebanon to prevent attacks from the area.

The escalation followed a joint US-Israeli offensive on Iran, which has killed 1,300 people since Feb. 28. Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries, which it said are targeting “US military assets.”
