UAE Defense Ministry says missile strike hit personnel during 'routine mission'
ISTANBUL
A civilian contractor working with the United Arab Emirates armed forces was killed and five Emirati military personnel were wounded in an Iranian missile attack in Bahrain, the UAE Defense Ministry said Tuesday.
A military statement said the contractor, a Moroccan national, was killed during "a routine mission" in Bahrain after an Iranian missile strike targeting the kingdom.
Five members of the UAE Defense Ministry were also injured in the attack, the ministry added.
No further details were provided on the location or timing of the strike.
The incident comes as the US and Israel have maintained airstrikes on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
