The Trump administration is preparing to launch a large-scale immigration enforcement operation in New Orleans, Louisiana, as early as Dec. 1, according to media reports.

Roughly 200 federal agents are expected to be sent to New Orleans, CBS News reported, citing internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) documents, part of a sweeping effort led by Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino.

His teams have already carried out aggressive operations in Democratic-led cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles and, most recently, Charlotte, report added.

In the Charlotte region, where the administration has dubbed its effort “Charlotte’s Web,” agents have made more than 200 arrests over the past week, a DHS official told CBS News, adding the operation is expected to wind down in the coming days.

Past raids have drawn protests and allegations of racial profiling and excessive force, but the Trump administration officials have rejected those claims, insisting arrests are based solely on suspected immigration violations and that agents have faced violence in some encounters.

Bovino has described his teams’ conduct as “exemplary.”

The internal plans also indicate Border Patrol requested armored vehicles and special operations teams for both Charlotte and New Orleans. Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, a Republican and Trump ally, has supported the administration’s immigration enforcement efforts.
