MOSCOW

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday has granted pardon to an Israeli citizen convicted for drug trafficking, according to Kremlin.

"[I decree to] Pardon Issachar Naama, born in 1993, who was convicted on October 11, 2019 by the Khimki city court of the Moscow region, releasing her from further serving her sentence," said a decree signed by Putin.

Issachar was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison on charges of drug trafficking.

She was flying from India’s capital New Delhi to Tel Aviv via Moscow, where she was detained after the border guards found 9.6 grams of marijuana in her luggage.
