ISTANBUL
Arab states on Saturday renewed their affirmation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, marked globally on Nov. 29 each year.
The UN designated this day in 1977 as an international occasion to express support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination, national independence, sovereignty, and the return of refugees to the homes from which they were displaced in 1948.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry reaffirmed in its statement Kuwait’s historic and principled position on the Palestinian cause, renewing its steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to obtain their rights, especially the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state along the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
It called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities, exert efforts to end the injustice and repression faced by the Palestinian people, protect their holy sites, support their steadfastness on their land, and ensure justice for them.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry, in its statement, joined the international community in marking the Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, stressing that the occasion is not merely an annual commemoration but a moment to reaffirm the values of justice and renew the moral and political commitment toward the Palestinian people.
Egypt emphasized that the Palestinian right to self-determination and to an independent state on the June 4, 1967, lines with East Jerusalem as its capital is not only a political demand but a historical entitlement endorsed by international legitimacy and upheld by humanity.
Arab Parliament Speaker Mohamed Al-Yammahi said the day of solidarity comes amid extremely grave humanitarian and political conditions due to Israel’s ongoing aggression in the Gaza Strip and the escalation of attacks in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
He added that the Palestinian people continue to suffer from siege, displacement, killings, and systematic violations that amount to war crimes and genocide.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called in its statement for strengthening international solidarity with Palestine and rejecting silence and inaction in holding Israel accountable for its crimes.
It stressed that true solidarity is expressed through rejecting colonialism and international complacency and by upholding the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights to self-determination, independence, and return to their homeland.
