Israeli drones fly low over southern Lebanon, drop stun grenades near border village
Move is latest breach of ceasefire agreement with Lebanon

BEIRUT
Israeli drones flew at low altitude over several areas in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, dropping stun grenades near a border village in a new breach of a ceasefire with Hezbollah.
According to Lebanon’s state news agency NNA, the drones were spotted over the coastal region of Tyre and neighboring towns, as well as the Qasmiyeh and Al-Jouar areas.
In one incident, a drone dropped stun grenades over the Kroum al-Sharaqi neighborhood, just east of the village of Mais al-Jabal, near the Israeli border. No injuries were reported.
Israel launched a military offensive in Lebanon on Oct. 8, 2023, which escalated into a full-scale war by September 2024, killing more than 4,000 people and injuring around 17,000.
A ceasefire was reached in November, but Israeli forces have conducted near-daily attacks in southern Lebanon, claiming to target activities of the Lebanese Hezbollah group.
Under the truce, Israel was supposed to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by Jan. 26, but the deadline was extended to Feb. 18 after Tel Aviv refused to comply. Israel still maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
