Kurdistan Democratic Party President Masoud Barzani has called on Iraq's federal government and the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) to meet and resolve disputes amid an ongoing escalation in the region.
In a message, Barzani said Iraq is under the threat of various crises and noted that political conflicts between parties have increased, the Erbil-based Rudaw Media Network reported Monday.
He also called for preventing actions by "opportunistic individuals who want to deepen the crisis and problems."
Barzani's comments came as regional tensions have escalated since Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, killing around 1,300 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
