FBI's presence in Washington DC expands as Trump orders removal of homeless people to combat crime
President escalates his rhetoric, demanding homeless people 'move out IMMEDIATELY', and promising to relocate them 'far from the capital'

ISTANBUL
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has increased its presence in Washington, DC, following President Donald Trump's announcement of a crime crackdown and the removal of homeless people from the city, according to an Axios report published Sunday.
Trump escalated his rhetoric on Sunday, demanding that homeless people "move out IMMEDIATELY" of the city and promising to relocate them "far from the capital."
The president vowed to restore the city's safety and cleanliness, describing Washington, DC, as "the most beautiful capital in the world" before it was overtaken by "tents, squalor, filth, and crime."
Trump also threatened criminals with imprisonment, saying, "Criminals, you do not have to move out." We'll put you in jail where you belong."
According to an Axios report, the FBI’s Washington Field Office confirmed that its agents are participating in an “increased federal law enforcement presence” in Washington, DC.
This move follows Trump’s executive order titled “D.C. Safe and Beautiful,” which created a task force to address crime and increase federal enforcement in the city, the report says.
Despite crime rates in the capital city generally falling, arrests for nonviolent offenses have risen under the initiative, Axios noted.
A White House spokesperson told Axios that Trump’s recent efforts have already removed weapons and illegal drugs from the streets “in just a few nights” and deterred numerous potential crimes due to a heightened law enforcement presence.
While the exact number of FBI agents involved in the crackdown has not been disclosed, the spokesperson confirmed an increase in federal officers deployed to the city in response to violent crime involving the bureau.
Other media reports indicate that the US military is preparing to activate a portion of the DC National Guard for potential deployment to Washington.
Trump announced a White House press conference Monday to address crime and “beautification” efforts in Washington.
