EU police agency arrests 338 over child trafficking

ANKARA

At least 388 suspects were arrested in a Europe-wide joint action targeting child trafficking from Oct. 5-11, EU's police agency said.

The operation was coordinated by Europol, Frontex, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain and nine other EU countries, Europol said in a statement.

Overall, 249 potential victims of human trafficking were identified, 61 of which were confirmed to be minors and the ages of 107 victims have not yet been determined.

The actions also led to 19 additional suspects identified and 40 new investigations initiated.

Human traffickers target the most vulnerable groups and children are among them, Europol said.
