The Turkish president on Friday spoke in support of the country's economic policy, underlining that it is consistent, scientific, and suitable given the current realities of the world.

Speaking at an event organized by Turkiye's Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the country is looking for an economic solution that promotes production, employment, and exports rather than the imposition of linked interest and inflation.

Moving on, Finland said it is continuing "open, direct and constructive dialogue" with Turkiye, as it pushes its bid to join the NATO alliance.

Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said Finland has been in "active contact" with Ankara and is "ready to discuss the outstanding issues."

In a related development, Turkiye's top diplomat said NATO's new strategic concept should include a resolve to fight all forms of terrorism.

In a joint news conference with his Romanian and Polish counterparts following a trilateral meeting, Mevlut Cavusoglu said Sweden and Finland should end their support of terrorism if they want to join the 30-member military alliance.

On the health front, a senior World Health Organization official said there is no need for mass vaccinations against the monkeypox virus, which has spread to more than 20 countries.
