24 Palestinians injured by Israeli fire in West Bank raid
Israeli forces raid Qalandiya refugee camp, Kafr Aqab town, north of East Jerusalem
RAMALLAH, Palestine/ ISTANBUL
At least 24 Palestinians were injured by Israeli army fire on Tuesday in occupied West Bank, medics said.
In a statement, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its crews dealt with 24 injuries following an Israeli raid in the Qalandiya refugee camp and Kafr Aqab town, north of East Jerusalem.
It explained that the injured included three people by live fire, including a 15-year-old boy who was wounded in the thigh.
Israeli forces raided the camp and Kafr Aqab early Tuesday, using military bulldozers and deploying dozens of soldiers across the main street and within neighborhoods, according to a statement by the Jerusalem governorate.
The statement noted that the raid was accompanied by heavy firing of stun grenades and tear gas, causing panic and severe tension among residents.
It added that the army forced residents of at least four homes to evacuate them and turned the houses into military posts.
According to Palestinian figures, Israeli forces and illegal settlers have killed at least 1,102 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, injured nearly 11,000, and detained around 21,000 since October 2023.
In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
