Drone crashes at Iraq’s Trebil border crossing with Jordan: Report

Istanbul

A drone crashed Thursday at the Trebil border crossing between Iraq and Jordan, according to Iraqi media.

Citing an unnamed security source, Shafaq News reported that the drone fell within the vicinity of the border crossing in western Iraq’s Anbar province.

The source said the incident caused no casualties or material damage.

The Trebil crossing is one of the main commercial land routes linking Iraq and Jordan.

It was not immediately clear who operated the drone, and no official comment had been issued by Iraqi or Jordanian authorities.

Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people to date, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
