UK premier appoints Chris Wormald as new Cabinet secretary
Wormald, currently serving as permanent secretary at Department of Health and Social Care, to take the post on Dec. 16, succeeding Simon Case

LONDON
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday named Chris Wormald, a career civil servant, as the new Cabinet secretary.
Wormald, currently serving as permanent secretary at the Department of Health and Social Care, will take the post on Dec. 16, succeeding Simon Case.
The appointment comes as Case steps down after four years in the position, citing health reasons.
Case, who has been receiving medical treatment for a neurological condition, announced his resignation in September.
