The French weather agency on Tuesday issued a red alert for the northern city of Pas-de-Calais as ongoing floods battered the region.
At the request of President Emmanuel Macron, some 120 more firefighters have been deployed in Pas-de-Calais to join relief efforts, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin wrote on X.
Residents were asked to stay away from streams, lakes and rivers, and avoid using their vehicles.
