ROME

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi on Sunday held a phone call to discuss the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, emphasizing the urgent need to de-escalate military operations in the region.

According to a statement from Italy’s Foreign Ministry, both nations are engaging in direct talks with Israel and Iran to help prevent further escalation and to promote regional stability.

Tajani also thanked Jordan for its continued support of Italian citizens present in the conflict-affected areas.

The Italian government said Tajani is “closely monitoring” the evolving situation and remains in frequent contact with Italy’s ambassadors in Tehran and Tel Aviv, reaffirming the country's support for its diplomatic missions amid rising tensions.

Speaking Saturday during a joint session of the Italian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committees, Tajani reiterated Italy’s commitment to easing military tensions and pursuing a diplomatic resolution to the Israel-Iran crisis.
