Greece announces grants for islands affected by frequent tremors since February

ATHENS

Greece on Wednesday announced grants for the southern Aegean islands, which have been experiencing intense seismic activity since early February, according to local media.

A total of €850,000 (approximately $888,000) will be used to meet the urgent needs of the islands, broadcaster SKAI TV reported, citing Deputy Interior Minister Vasilis Spanakis.

Santorini will receive €400,000, with the remainder divided equally among the islands of Amorgos, Anafi, and Ios.

Meanwhile, the region experienced more than 20 tremors of varying magnitudes on the Richter scale on Wednesday.

There have been no reports of casualties or damage so far.
