France emphasized the growing need for humanitarian corridors to provide aid to besieged Gaza, French media reported on Friday.

Speaking to broadcaster BFMTV, Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu said: “It’s obvious that we need humanitarian corridors to provide aid to Gaza.”

Saying that France is working with countries in the region, including Egypt and Jordan, Lecornu stressed that supporting Egypt is particularly important as it has the only crossing point to Gaza that is not controlled by Israel.

France will send more humanitarian aid by planes to Egypt for Gaza, he said, and added two helicopter carrier ships in the Mediterranean, Tonnerre and Dixmude, will also participate in the relief efforts.

Meanwhile, the administration of the southeast region of Alpes-Maritimes announced on X that a pro-Palestinian rally, which was supposed to take place on Nov. 4 in the city of Nice, was banned.

According to the statement, the decision was made due to “risks of disturbances to public order, clashes, the persistence of the terrorist threat, and the resurgence of anti-Semitic acts.”

The Israeli army has widened its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since the surprise offensive by Hamas on Oct. 7.

Nearly 10,800 people have been killed in the conflict, including at least 9,227 Palestinians and more than 1,538 Israelis.
