Italy beat Switzerland 3-0 Wednesday to clinch a spot in the UEFA Euro 2020 last 16 stage.

Midfielder Manuel Locatelli scored twice for Italy to be the key player during the Group A match in Rome. He was then named the man of the match.

Unmarked Locatelli made a close-range finish in the 26th minute and doubled the lead in the 52nd minute, scoring outside the area.

He sent a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-0 for Italy. Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer did not move.

Italian forward Ciro Immobile sealed the result, scoring the third goal near the end of the match at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Similar to Locatelli, Immobile fired from a long distance to put the ball into the Swiss net. Sommer was unable to parry it.

Group A leaders Italy won two matches to clinch the last 16 berth.

Second-place Wales have four points in the group and have a big advantage for the next phase.

Switzerland have one point.

Turkey lost against Italy and Wales to come last.

Italy will face Wales in Rome on Sunday. On the same day, Turkey will play against Switzerland in Baku.

After these fixtures, the Group A matches will conclude.
