Türkiye's total imports of petroleum and petroleum products increased by 11.1% year over year in May to 4.26 million tons, according to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority's Oil Market Sector Report on Friday.
Crude oil, which constitutes the largest item in Türkiye's total oil imports, decreased by 17.1% to 2.46 million tons in May.
Russia imported the most crude oil and petroleum products, at 2.30 million tons, followed by Iraq with 957,989 tons and Kazakhstan with 439,031 tons.
The import of diesel fuel increased to 1.28 million tons, up by 126.2% from May 2022.
In May, domestic gasoline sales rose by 35.2% year over year to 364,051 tons, while diesel sales increased by 16.5% to 2.44 million tons.
Total petroleum product sales increased to 2.96 million tons, up by 18.5%.

Türkiye's aviation fuel exports rose by 37.5%, while maritime fuel exports fell by 57.4% in May.
Aviation fuel and maritime fuel exports reached 416,291 tons and 81,879 tons, respectively.
Exports of gasoline types plummeted by 81.5% to 47,733 tons, while diesel types exports increased by 9% to 319,520 tons.
Overall, total exports in the oil market contracted by 16.5% year over year to 993,008 tons in May.
Total refinery petroleum product production decreased to 2.81 tons, down by 20.5% year over year.
