Turkish Petroleum Refineries (TUPRAS) announced on Wednesday that any news story about illegal crude oil reaching TUPRAS refinery in Batman is totally false.
The oil refinery released a written statement after questions were raised whether stories reported by some news agencies on illegal crude oil reaching southeastern city of Batman were related to TUPRAS.
"All social media comments about the news stories and allegations towards TUPRAS are false," the company said.
Oil in Batman refinery is supplied from Turkey's national oil company Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TP) and licensed crude oil producers in the country, TUPRAS added.
"The sector is regulated and information on all crude oil supplies to our refineries are shared with related institutions," the publicly listed company said referring to the company's transparent nature.
TUPRAS is the country's only oil refining company, and acting against national and international regulations is not a possibility, the company stressed.
The company also added that they reserve the right to take legal action against any loss experienced due to false news stories.
