Ukraine has temporarily stopped the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline, Ukrainian company Uktransnaft announced Thursday.
According to Uktransnaft, the company halted the transit because of the poor quality of its oil, which was discovered on April 19.
The company said they have the right to stop the intake of Russian oil if it is deemed substandard and not in accordance with the quality agreed in its contract.
Transneft, the Russian oil company responsible for the transmission of the oil via Druzhba, confirmed the high chloride content in the oil, and stated they have taken the necessary measures to resolve the issue.
Poland and Slovakia have also suspended intake from the line on Thursday and are awaiting full resolution of the problem.
