The lead actor of a popular Turkish TV series met fans in the Qatari capital on Wednesday.

Appearing as Ertugrul Ghazi -- 13th century father of the founder of the Ottoman Empire -- in the series "Resurrection: Ertugrul", Engin Altan Duzyatan attended the Ajyal Film Festival in Doha.

Duzyatan had photographs taken with his fans in a local Turkish restaurant.

"We are very happy to see Ertugrul," said Qatari Ahmed Abdullah, adding that the series spoke to the "ideas and conscience" of Qataris.

Organized by the Doha Film Institute, the festival is planned to continue till Dec. 3.

First aired in December 2014 on Turkey’s state-run broadcaster TRT, "Resurrection: Ertugrul" has gathered wide followers inside Turkey, becoming the channel's most popular TV series to date.
