ANKARA
The Anadolu Agency will celebrate Turkey’s International Children's Festival on April 23 by releasing a special three-part photo anthology.
The agency has prepared three collections of photographs to mark the festival, which was started in 1920: ‘Childhood photos of politicians who are governing Turkey’, ‘81 children from 81 countries’ and ‘Syrian children’.
The 23rd April Children’s Festival is an event established by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of Turkey, to mark the opening of the country’s parliament.
“Having the largest photo archive in Turkey, the Anadolu Agency thinks it is our duty to show Turkey's present and its past,” Visual News Director of AA, Ahmet Sel, said.
‘Childhood photos of politicians who are governing Turkey’
The agency will publish childhood photos of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, deputy prime ministers and other members of the cabinet.
‘Syrian children’
Although Syrian children cannot celebrate Children's Day due to the ongoing war in their country they could still look at life in a beautiful way.
AA has collected Syrian children's photos in its archive to document their lives in wartime.
81 children from 81 countries
Children’s photos have been collected from the agency’s archives from cities across Turkey.
The "81 children from 81 countries" anthology includes a picture of Ulku Adatepe to represent Istanbul; she was the youngest adopted daughter of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
AA' s three anthologies will be displayed all day in the Parliament on 23rd April.
