ISTANBUL

Ukraine said on Tuesday that overnight Russian airstrikes have damaged energy, industrial, and port infrastructure in the country’s southern Odesa region, resulting in power outages in some settlements.

Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper said on Telegram that the territories of enterprises and some equipment were damaged due to the attack and that fires broke out in unspecified locations, which, he said, were promptly extinguished.

“Fortunately, there were no deaths or injuries,” Kiper said, indicating power outages are observed in some settlements and that critical infrastructure has been switched to backup power.

The country’s Development Ministry separately announced that a barge used in production processes was hit in southern Ukraine, and that outbuildings of one of the ports were also damaged.

“All relevant services are working on the ground, and the consequences of the attacks are being eliminated,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Air Force claimed that it shot down 154 out of 178 drones launched by Russia overnight.

Moscow has not commented on Kyiv's claims, while the Russian Defense Ministry claimed it downed 206 Ukrainian drones during an overnight attack, with 40 of them toward the country’s capital.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed the downing of Ukrainian drones in multiple statements overnight, adding that specialists are working at the site of debris from the downed drones.

The Defense Ministry later claimed it shot down another 12 Ukrainian drones, with six of them over the northwestern Leningrad region.
