Turkish journalists were among those honored with the "150th Anniversary of the Azerbaijani National Press" medals in Baku on Thursday.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev established the award through a decree to commemorate the country's 150th anniversary of the national press.

Among those honored were Anadolu's Asia and Caucasus News Editor Tolga Ozgenc, Baku correspondent Ruslan Rehimov, and cameraman Resul Rehimov.

Murat Akkoc, TRT Azerbaijan's representative, received the award alongside reporter Fatih Avanos and cameraman Ahmet Halilov.

Cihangir Isbilir, press counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Baku, along with Ihlas News Agency (IHA) reporters Kamil Nadirli and Rafig Mecildi, as well as journalists from TRT World and CNN Turk, were also awarded the medals, which were presented by the Azerbaijan Media Development Agency.

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Baku, Birol Akgun, received and congratulated the award-winning Turkish journalists working in Azerbaijan, wishing them continued success.

He said the Turkish media played a vital role during the Second Karabakh War by conveying realities to the world, adding that recognition of Anadolu and TRT’s work in Azerbaijan is a source of pride for Türkiye.
