A UK maritime agency on Tuesday said it is investigating an incident of a vessel off Fujairah, east of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in the Sea of Oman.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which referred its source of information to a third party, classified the reported incident in its warning notice as a "non-piracy incident."

The UKMTO advised all vessels to "exercise extreme caution" while sailing in the area, as an investigation is still underway.

Meanwhile, the tracking website Refinitiv's ship tracking data showed that a chemical tanker, the Golden Brilliant, has reported its status as "not under command" off the coast of Fujairah.

The incident came at the height of last week's attack on an Israeli-operated oil tanker off Oman in which Israel and the US blamed Iran -- an accusation Iran denied.
