Pakistan on Thursday conferred its highest civil award to the visiting Bosniak member of tripartite presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sefik Dzaferovic.

President Arif Alvi at a ceremony held at the President House in the capital Islamabad conferred Nishan-e-Pakistan or Order of Pakistan to Dzaferovic, said a statement by the president's office.

Established in 1957, the award is bestowed by the president for the highest degree of service to Pakistani citizens as well as to foreign nationals.

Later, Dzaferovic held a one-on-one meeting with Alvi to discuss ways to boost bilateral relations, with a special focus on trade and business, according to the statement.

Alvi, it added, apprised Dzaferovic of the “grave” human rights violations in the Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

Dzaferovic is currently on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.
