Nepal recovers bodies of 2 foreign mountaineers, search for 3 continues
Italian, German climbers missing after avalanche at base camp of Yalung Ri peak
ISTANBUL
Nepal on Wednesday recovered the bodies of two foreign mountaineers, while the search for three others continues.
Seven climbers out of a group of 15 were struck by an avalanche at the base camp of the Yalung Ri peak in the Dolakha district in central Nepal during their climb on Monday.
Gyan Kumar Mahato, chief of the district police, said that the bodies of Paolo Cocco of Italy and Christian Andre Manfredi of France were recovered from the avalanche on Wednesday, according to the daily newspaper Kantipur.
The bodies of Nepali guides Padam Tamang and Mere Karki were retrieved on Tuesday, it said.
The search for Italian mountaineer Marco Di Marcello and German climbers Markus Kirchler and Jakob Schreiber will continue, according to the report.
