MOSCOW

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that Moscow pays great importance to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin's upcoming trip to China.

Speaking at a press briefing in Moscow, Peskov expressed hope that Mishustin would meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting this as part of their established bilateral relationship traditions.

“We look forward to this visit and consider it very important,” he stressed.

Peskov further mentioned that both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping maintain consistent communication, either directly or through other channels.

Mishustin’s visit to China is set for Nov. 3-4, where he will attend the 30th annual meeting of Russian and Chinese prime ministers, alongside Chinese Premier Li Qiang in the city of Hangzhou.

Addressing questions about the conflict in Ukraine, Peskov referred queries concerning missile types employed by Russia, specifically those classified under Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces, to the Defense Ministry.

“I cannot confirm anything. This specific inquiry must be directed towards our defense officials who can provide information on the particulars of weapon systems and munitions,” he said.

Regarding recent US media claims suggesting that Washington had reportedly cancelled a planned summit between Putin and US President Donald Trump after Russia had sent a memo related to Ukraine, along with assertions that the last conversation between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was “tense,” Peskov urged reporters to refer to official statements released by respective diplomatic bodies.

“Both sides offered entirely divergent narratives and evaluations,” Peskov stressed.
