Ukraine on Saturday claimed that a Russian Su-27UB training and combat fighter jet was destroyed in a fire at the Armavir airfield in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai region.

In a statement posted on Telegram, Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) said the aircraft, which is primarily used to train cadets at the Krasnodar Aviation School, caught fire at the military facility.

It did not provide details on the cause of the incident but described it as part of growing internal resistance to Russian leadership.

“Resistance to the Kremlin regime inside Russia is growing,” the statement said. “Every crime committed against the Ukrainian people will receive just retribution."

The intelligence agency added that local residents near the airfield reported communication disruptions following the incident.

Russian authorities have not yet publicly commented on the reported fire.

The Su-27UB is a twin-seat variant of the Su-27 fighter jet, typically used for training missions while retaining full combat capability.
