2 Russian strategic bombers carry out flight above Sea of Japan
Russian Defense Ministry says pair of fighter jets accompanied bombers during training flight
MOSCOW
The Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday that two Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers conducted a seven-hour training flight above neutral waters of the Sea of Japan.
It said Su-35S and Su-30SM fighter jets accompanied the flight, which was conducted "in strict accordance with the international rules for the use of airspace."
The ministry also said long-range aviation pilots regularly fly above the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic and Pacific oceans as well as over the Black Sea and the Baltic.
