Russia claims it captured settlement in Ukraine's Sumy region
Chervona Zorya village now under control of Russian forces, according to Defense Ministry
MOSCOW
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that its forces captured the settlement of Chervona Zorya in Ukraine's Sumy region.
In a statement on Telegram, the ministry said the village went under Russia's control as a result of the operation carried out by the Sever (North) group of forces.
Meanwhile, Kyiv launched a massive drone attack on the Samara region, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said in a separate statement on Telegram.
"There are no dead or injured," he noted, without specifying the targets of the attack or the consequences of the raid.
However, according to Ukraine's General Staff, the target of the strike was the KuibyshevAzot chemical plant in the city of Tolyatti.
As a result of the strike, fire broke out at the facility, and over 10 workshops were disabled.
Independent verification of claims is challenging due to the ongoing conflict.
