TURKISH FILM GETS BEST FILM AWARD IN GERMAN FESTIVAL
BERLIN - A Turkish film won the best film award in a Turkish-German festival on Sunday.

"11'e 10 Kala" has received awards in Turkish and international festivals. Some of them are jury special award at the Istanbul Film Festival, best film and scenario awards at Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, and best new Middle Eastern narrative director in Middle East award at the International Middle East Film Festival.
German actress of Turkish origin Sibel Kekilli won the best lead actress award with her performance in "Die Fremde", and Erdem Akakce got the best lead actor award.
"Die Entbehrlichen" by Andeas Arnstedt and "Min Dit" by Senay Orak won jury special awards.
"Vertraue mir" by Nazli Elif Duru received the best short film award.
A Turkish-French-German co-production, "11'e 10 Kala" is the story of a passionate collector, Mithat, and the concierge of his building, Ali. For Mithat, Istanbul is as vast as his collections, while for Ali, who comes from a country village, it is nothing more than a few blocks around him. When the neighbours decide to have the building rebuilt for fear of earthquakes and the desire for a more valuable house, Mithat's most challenging struggle to save his collections begins. The building becomes the common destiny of these two men living alone, who will involuntarily change each other's fate.
Pelin Esmer's first work as a director, "Koleksiyoncu" (The Collector, 2002), won the Best Documentary Award at Rome Independent Film Festival. Her next work, "Oyun" (The Play, 2005), was premiered in Zabaltegi-New Directors at San Sebastian Festival and bagged the Best New Documentary Director Award at Tribeca Festival.
