ISTANBUL - Prominent Turkish movie-maker, Zeki Okten, passed away at the age of 68 in Istanbul.

Okten had been taken to hospital two days ago after feeling sick.
Born in Istanbul in 1941, Okten began his filmmaking career in 1961 as the assistant director of Nisan Hancer. He made his first film "Olum Pazari" in 1963. But he gained reputation as director in 1973 with his film "A Bunch of Violets".
Okten received international acclaim with his films "The Herd" in 1978 and "The Enemy" in 1979, both written by Yilmaz Guney.
