ANKARA-KONYA HIGH SPEED TRAIN TEST-RUN TAKES 1.5 HOURS
ANKARA/KONYA - Commercial test-run of High Speed Train (YHT) between Konya and Ankara was held on Thursday.

The test-run was concluded in 90 minutes.
The high-speed train departed from Ankara and reached central Anatolian province of Konya in 1.5 hours.
Turkish state-run rail operator TCDD will start carrying passengers with YHT in summer.
Foundation of Ankara-Konya YHT tracks was laid five years ago and technical test-runs started in December, 2010.
TCDD launched its first high-speed train service in March 2009 to connect Ankara and Eskisehir on a 245-kilometer electrified and signalled double line that reduced travel time to one and a half hours from nearly three hours. Ankara-Eskisehir line is part of the Ankara-Istanbul high-speed rail project which is still underway.
